Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, Xian, China 06 / 45 Have a nice day, Henk Originally situated within the premises of the Temple of Motherly Kindness in the Jinchang Block, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda was constructed in the Ming style, built in 648 AD by the third Tang emperor, Gaozong, as a tribute to his dead mother, Empress Wende. The Pagoda itself was built in 652 (third year of Yonghui of the Tang Emperor Gaozong), a square pyramid of blue brick. It is simple in shape, and of good and lofty proportion. Preserved on the four stone doors in the base of the pagoda are exquisite engravings of the Tang. Two steles with "the preface to the Sacred Religion" written by the famous Tang calligrapher Chu Suiliang are set into the walls on the either side of the south door of the pagoda. Because of their distinctive and elegant inscriptions, the steles are valuable data for the art of calligraphy

What a magnificent moment you captured here. Everything - from the the meditative monk to the hanging branches and the pagoda in the background - awesome DOF and such a nice motive. I'd like to see more !

Wow, amazing shot! I love his pose, the motive is beautiful. Very contemplative positioning and crop. The orange in his shirt and the flowers stands out perfectly against the grey surroundings, and the green in the tree. Completely perfectly shot! Well presented :-)

An extremely well composed/balanced image, Henk ! Amazing to note the assorted color of the monk costume and the flowers... Great impression of peace and serenity ! I'm very happy that this great series is continuing... See you tomorrow !
