I will post one more on this series and then will stop. I don't want to get people sick of me and my postings. :)
Fish is the main food source for the Bald Eagles, so you see them mostly along side of the coasts and running waters grabbing fish right out of the water and carring it to a tree. Their eye sight is absolutly amazing and based on one article, they can see small fish on the surface of the water from 100's feet above the water level. Same fish will not be visible to human eyes from 10 feet or above. Their effiency in catching the fish is only 1 out of 8 to 10 times of trying. I actually witnessed this myself this past weekend and was amazed by this lack of efficiency. I guess this goes for most animals on top of the food chain.
They normally carry the fish in their talens since that is how they grab them out of the water. They do not seem to like to nose dive into water like Sea Gulls or Pelicans, but this one was carring the fish in his beak. He could have stollen it from another eagle which is a bad trait they are known for. That is one of the reasons "Benjamin Franklin" was opposed to having the bald eagle as the symbol of the United States.
