A unique & hugely impressive image. Thank you for the background info too - most interesting! Might I say slightly strange camera settings - a higher F-stop might have been advisable - would have made the car ferry slightly sharper depending on your lense, but I guess you were concentrating on composition, which is perfect!! Perhaps using aperture priority mode on the 400D would have helped? Congrats on the LWITG - well deserved IMHO.

Thanks for all comments.Tommorules, I have to deal with a few challenges in the air so the priority is a shutter speed setting at a min of 800th and the f stop then has to fit in with that. I dont use a gyro instead I rely on a steady hand and keep the lens out of the slipstream (window open)by leaning back into the cockpit. Airspeed is generally around 80 mph. Focus is on auto. Sharpness is lost when compressing down for this website , an actual print will be a lot sharper and this is a pic I plan to enlarge big for my exhibition.

Dear Gary, The thumbnail had me confused!! (It happens a lot - I'm blond!!!) Living on Texas Gulf Coast I see my share of jack up platforms from the air and from the sea - but I'd never seen one with six legs!!! The full photo explained everything!!! That's a serious load to pack around!!!! I saw the mention of 80 mph - what were you flying?? I have a friend with a Super Cub that is our "preferred" aerial platform!! While they are very impressive from the air, it's perhaps even crazier when you see them up close during builder. "Rocky" and "Bullwinkle" were both built in Port Aransas, Texas. I drove by when "Bullwinkle" was nearing completion and just couldn't believe how big it was!! Super photograph!!!!! Love ya!!! Meredith
