Description

Hi! Many thanks for the kind comments in previous pictures! * Please, view this one full-size. * I love reading and with this picture I try to portray what reading is for me: - concentration (represented by the lights, focusing on this small "universe" and nothing else), - isolation from everything and everyone (even the floor only exists exclusively to support the reader), - ...and the whole Universe at our range! 99.9% direct render. In postwork I just added 3 or 4 stars in a specific spot, needed because of how I built the scene, which was: - Load atmosphere "outer space" - Put all light from the sunlight, none from ambient - Delete the sun and create a volumetric spot light (shadow intensity 85%) - Put a standard window in front of the light (80% transparency, 20% reflection) - Cover sides and back of the light with black planes, leaving just one place for the light to go: the window - Create some candles and put a standard light (very weak, just power of 5), just to give some ambient light - The character is M3, morphology and expression dialed manually by me. Pose was also made entirely by me. Thanks for watching!

Critique Group Conceptually speaking this is outstanding. However, my problem is that you're focus is supposed to be on the reader himself, and he is lost in the overly strong volumetric lighting. In this image I believe you will need to cheat in order to bring the viewers focus back to the subject of your art and away from the very bright window and the ensuing volumetric light.

I really like this image - very good job! I think (and this is subjective) that if the main figure had some soft fill light it would make the image really stand out and it would not blow the directional lighting thing you got going- very good composition, another very small thing woulf=d be the tangents on the candle nearest the window - it gets kinda lost - maybe rotate it 180 to the other side of the fig and that could be you fill source! All in al a really nice image tho!

What a great idea. As if his reading is overflowing into the real world. We all feel that way sometimes when we are really wrapped up in a good book.
