BIO
Married, 2 kids, mostly happily employed. Found Rendo in the fall of 2004, though at this point I don't remember just how I ended up here anymore. Probably linked off a fantasy art site somewhere perhaps. Lurked and checked out all the cool artwork for a few months before downloading DAZ|Studio and trying my hand at a few images. Had enough fun with that and the luck to have worked a significant amount of overtime at the time to purchase Poser 5 & PSP9 without busting the budget. Do well enough in Poser, though not nearly as well as I'd like. There's just not enough time in the day to do it all. When not working, doing things with family or Posering I love to read Sci-Fi and Fantasy (mostly), play computer games and chat with friends online. I've yet to chat with anybody here. And while I'm on MSN quite frequently it's almost always with the ID that I run in my Harry Potter game. So, that being said, should you wish to converse, I can be reached on MSN at janussparhawkAThotmail.com (replace AT with @) I'd love to get to know you all more. :)

I'm liking it. May I suggest something that might be even cuter to do? Try putting her let hand on her knee like the right hand is. She might appear even more relaxed tht way.

Nicely done!

I like the pose...not sure what you are up to...but I'll find out eventually :P Great work John.

well done and good luck with your project.

I like the pose just fine. Her movement seems natural which is very good. When doing poses I would suggest you rotate the character all around to make sure all sides of her even pointing ahead looks good. Cant wait to figure out this mystery project of yours..Shannon ;}

Excellent work John!!

Hey John, abiding by your wish to receive critique of the pose: Overall, it is an excellent start, I think her back might be a little stiff to be resting-thinking of a natural way that you would slouch against an object. Her hand, using the neutral pose, is sort of clutching the stomach and creates the impression of discomfort. Her head and neck are also in the default pose, adjusting these would help add some character. hope this helps, Its great you are creating an entire set- the experience alone is gonna make you a master of it!

Dear John, Im almost half way finished with the Citation stuff! Because of the computer problems this morning, I ended up doing an evening session to catch up. Saturday is going to be a light day and on Sunday I dont have anything scheduled. Im gonna use the time to do some more studying and to maybe take a couple of naps to catch up on sleep!! Next week is really going to be the crunch time! Im gonna have to go back to work to rest up from my vacation!!!! After getting powered sugar on my keyboard this morning while eating French toast I was surprised that it still worked!!! Ill have our long suffering IT guys look it over when I get back home. It certainly wont be as bad as the time I dumped in a bottle of nail polish!!!!! Whoops!!!!! ;-) While Im on vacation and doing pilot training, Im going to need to continue doing a lot of cut and pasting with just a tiny little real comment added!! Im really sorry, but I just dont have much time right now to write my usual wacko stuff! Ill be back on March 3rd!! I've already probably used up my two cents worth of advice tonight, but here's maybe a penny more!!! ;-) There are a number of things that can speed up the posing process. One is as I said previously to photograph your wife or even yourself in the pose and then "copy" it to the character. Trust me, it works a lot easier and a lot quicker. Do twenty or so pictures, then set up the poses bang bang bang!!!! Use inverse kinetics to get the hand and feet where you want them - this is a BIG labor saver! BUT - before you adjust the actual hand or body part, turn off IK - use it just for moving!! Also - VERY important - make sure that IK is turned off before you save the pose. Poser's numericic routines for IK are VERY subject to something called gimbal lock!! Actually all of their rotations are subject to it. The result is that you can get weird rotations stored away if you have IK turned on. For example, the wrist might be bent 15 degrees - Poser MIGHT save that as 735 degrees - 15 degrees plus two full rotations!! You save the pose and it looks fine - reload it and it's spaghetti!!!! Autobalance has the same problems. Turn it on for standing figures to get a more natural stance, but ALWAYS turn it off before you save the pose!!! TRY to do all your poses with "use limits" turned on - but turn this back off when you save the pose. Use limits will help prevent unnatural joint rotations. Our elbows are a hing joint that can only move on a single axis - Poser be deafult uses a ball joint and allows totally unnatural motions. Use Limits will stop this. This is another reason to work from photos because you'll automatically exclude unnatural movements. It takes a bit more work, but your poses will be much more realistic. Vicky's shoulder joints are in the wrong place!! The GUYS at Daz have apparently never seen a real girl - so they gave Vicky guy shoulders!!! You can fix a lot of this by bending her collarbones down 5 to 10 degrees and use that position as your default!!! Load Vicky and zero all the joint rotations. Look from the front camera!! Take a picture of your wife or have her pose standing straight up for a moment and lower the collarbones until the line from the top of the shoulder to the neck mataches a real girl. Now lower the shoulders down to 70 or so degrees so Vicki's arms are hanging straight down along her sides. Again compare to your wife!! Adjuse the collar and shoulder rotations until they match your wife. This is your default starting position for future posing. Again, 5 to 10 degrees on the collar bones should do it. For arms above the head, adjust both the shoulders and collarbones - again - get your wife to help you. The collar roations can go as high as 30 to 40 degrees. This will prevent weird breast deformations that happen when you do it all with the shoulders. It is better to move the thigh than the buttocks!! We only have one ball joint per side in our hips! That has to be the center of rotation for all mvoement. Vicki's got different centers (or at least did) of rotation for the thigh and buttocks - impossible except for an octopus!! The thigh rotation is closer to a girl's rotation - the buttocks rotation is from an alien or something!!! Also, the spherical fall off zones get tangled up when you use both. The MORPHS on the buttocks will help for extreme positions - like a split, but do your rotations with the thighs. Take a look at my Christmas Ballet Meredith_0221 - that is all thigh rotations with buttocks morphs!! Meredith's joint are right because they are measure from my own joints but I still avoid the buttocks because if I try to use the pose with another character it will mess them up!! Hmmm - this may be more than a penny's worth of soapbox time!! ;-) IM me with any questions about this. I don't know if you've been using IK or not!!! Hope this might help a little!!!!!! Love ya!!! This is a very natural looking pose, tho, I would tilt the head back just a little bit to appears as if she has her head resting against the box, but that
s just me..Great work, can
t wait to see more.Syltermermaid

Note to self: Steal Jwiest's poses and put them out on the marketplace, mwahahahah! Oh umm, forget I said that. Seriously though, I think you're off to a good start here. As for suggestions, I'd suggest you do something with the fingers on the right hand, like maybe reduce the "spread" on that hand, bend the fingers in slightly varying ways, etc.
Gor111
Oh she is a real lovely and cute looking lady! Love the way how you have posed here!!!
