Description

A big issue beyond art and even public relations in the minds of some. I got out the skydome from Poser 7 and noticed the clouds go all the way to the bottom. So I thought I would do something in flight, a raptor, a bird, a ...biplane from DAZ. I used one of the sitting poses then elevated Simon's feet a bit to scrunch him in the cockpit. Then I wanted to use my leather helmet and goggles prop but for the moment I was trying to use props available to all. You want to see that it is Simon anyway, right? Thenthere was the matter of what is below. I used one of the circular tiles that is in the same folder as the skydome. (the macro one) I tried grass and truf shaders and the sky texture from the 3d node map with different colors in the mix. The more I fiddled the less I believed the edge where the tile and the skydome met. So broke down and added a mountain I had imported years ago as a base for a temple prop. Tallpindo can be quite brutal in denying arrogant expression of creative appeal. Here I notice there is a hole in the biplane to put Simon in. It is not an alpha map nor is it a transparency. Ther is thus some convexity in the model. The engine is just a flat map. That keeps the polycount way down for easily downloadability and storage. This is where it gets sensitive. I don't have a clay or resin model of a biplane that was laser scanned to create the electronic model. I don't have access immediately to a real airplane to take measurements off or drawings. I don't have Simon as a friend to do the same thing. Not even a scupture or bobblehead. And I sure don't have a sky to take pictures of that belongs just to me and I can sell views from a perch to photographers wishing to make skydomes. I have no intention to take this render to Kinko's or find a Roland press to make huge blowups as my son once did with a windmill knowing of some football slides I had blown up in 1974 for about $100.00 each. So what I own is the electronic file showing my composition and lighting presentation as simulated by Poser 7. I can send a copy to Renderosity and have some expectation that this file is as good as the original on my hard drive. If folks down load it from their views they get a file as good. It has no tracers or watermarks I put in it and is not numbered or signed. I think it is worth something. Others will note that I was not paid to make it nor ordered to make it. In their minds that gives it no commercial presence. It doesn't further my dream of a memory built as electronic reminiscenses. Or does it? Didn't I see a Sopwith like this in the USAF museum as the dozent was leading us along? I remember noting how small it was in person. Maybe it has a resource in my memory after all.

I was watching failed inventions last night and a lot of brilliant ideas that sank like a rock.flying cars,boat/cars, personal flying one person contraption that would only fly for 21 seconds then fall like a rock. medical flops that only killed people including many doctors.but your idea is off in the wild (yellow?) yonder flying like a bird

Another fantastic render Dale! Agree with your comments on watermarks and tracers. I do not use them either, if others like my work then great by all means download and print. I understand why other do not do this as they are artists and commercial value is important. Jay

That AFM Camel is technically a replica made from specially ordered plywood from England that hasn't been made since the '40s. All the "hardware" (engine, gunsight, guns, wheels etc.) is original. Is it a "real" Camel? Copyright infringement? :)

Dear Dale, I had most of Saturday and all of Sunday off from flight training and planned on doing some studying and relaxing a bit - maybe even a couple of naps!! Instead Ive spent the whole time catching up on office stuff!! My dumb cell phone bill is probably going to be as high as the national debt!!!! Anyway - Im running a little behind on things here at Renderosity, but I hope to catch up by morning!!! While Im on vacation and doing pilot training, Im going to need to continue doing a lot of cut and pasting with just a tiny little real comment added!! Im really sorry, but I just dont have much time right now to write my usual wacko stuff! Ill be back on March 3rd!! I too have notice how tiny some of the early planes are! Of course a J3 Cub is pretty small, too. So is a Decathalon. I've flown both and conventitional gear will keep you on your toes after flying trikes!!! Super nice job on the scene!!! I really like seeing the old biplanes!! It's amazing how fast aviation grew up - sort of like the rapid advance in computers!!! Love ya!!! Meredith Meredith Elaine Wilson - MeredithLand
