Description

There is more work to be done, but this is version 1.0 of the animation I did with Carrara (and ofcourse After Effects), inventing some multi-pass rendering techniques on the fly. The timing will be redone, some parts will be longer, others shorter, some will disappear and there will be added a sequence. And flat-shaded transparent contours of peope will be added as well. The original model was built with SketchUp and re-textured and changed in Carrara 5Pro The work ended up having a month less time than first imagined. I will try to put a YouTube thingy in the comments, but this is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2b1GD2f97M8

Fun stuff Hoof! Obviously a ton of work went into that. There were some occasional Camera motion bumps in the animation. How were you animating your movement? If you're interested, there a couple of easy ways to smooth motion out that I can share.

Thanks! I started the opening shot (the spiralling down) with motion paths, but after a day or more I stopped trying to get that right (the path, but mainly the pointing of the camera). After that I went for normal keyframing. And learned that the graph editor is my friend. Because of the hurry I did not get back to make the biggest humps go away, but I consider this a work in progress. Is there a tutorial on Motion Paths in your VLC DVD? I still have to watch most of that... I will add (some) reflections and Indirect Light (ambient occlusion) in next versions too, by the way.

(I render this movie to use on a 1024x758 pixel large beamer, so the render times are rather long)

I own Carrara, but use 3ds Max mostly, and it's nice to see somebody making something of substance with it! You make me want to explore Carrara more thoroughly! Cheers!
