Oh I think we know all right ... but too many of us won't admit it. Mike

At some point you have to ask yourself: "Would I rather be right, or happy?" Far too many have chosen to hang on to their belief that they're right at the expense of happiness.

God is the excuse we use to justify our own failings. You put your finger on the pulse of that quite nicely, and as I write this, I cannot help but think of how irrational religion is. I mean, ultimately, it's a matter of mathematics. Let's just say that the normal human lives for 80 years. Now, humans don't start "sinning" until after the age of what? 5 years? After that, it's believed that we don't attain "knowledge" until we're substantially older than that? Okay...now...MOST humans don't sin every day of their conscious lives, and even if they did, that's little more than what...50 - 60 years. So, if you do 60 years of sinning, then why are you given an eternity of punishment; why not just take 60 years pennance after death? Ah...but I'm far to rational, which probably explains why I'm not God. It's also quite telling that in the Judeo-Christian tradition, the attainment of literacy IS the attainment of sin! By that reasoning, God doesn't like smart people. When I was a teenager, I got in trouble for asking the one question this line of reasoning raises: Why do we trust God, when he's obviously hiding something?" I love this piece of work, becuase it provokes those questions and forces people to think. Those who alread think probably look at this and smile. I know I did. Great work!
