Description

"The Moving Wall" is a half-size replica of the Washington DC Vietnam Veterans Memorial and has been touring the country for more than 20 years. It was on display at the local high recently and I spent many hours there taking photos. A replica the sculpture "Tears from a Grateful Heart" by Scott Stearman was also on display. I thought it was appropriate that they be combined in my humble tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Your imagery is wonderful. The Wall is the most stunning of memorials, to both those living and dead who served in Vietnam. When the design was first awarded I thought it was too little and almost an insult--more of a political statement than a tribute to fallen Americans. But ten years ago when I visited it with my brother, a Vietnam Vet, it was like being pole-axed with the emotion. It is an incredible architectural accomplishment and a beautiful memorial in every way. To think that Maya Ying Lin was barely 21 years old when she designed the memorial is to contemplate pure genius. The travelling Wall is something not to be missed if it comes to your area, but if you ever get the chance to visit the real thing, do it, especially if you are an American. And budget time for contemplation of the incredible sacrifices made over 230 years of American history. http://thewall-usa.com/

Anyone who has ever been military or has a member of their family or a friend that served will be forever moved by this ...thank you so much. Both my sons and I are either vets or on active duty. That was how I raised them. You can well imagine how this has hit me.
