Description

All I changed was, (1) to switch ON the Image-Based Lighting (or IBL, which turns off the Sun), and re-render the original glasshouse image. The original render took about 3 hours. The IBL version, (ahem!) took two weeks to make this image at 2200x1375 I also made an exterior view, and some experiments which I'll post over the next few days. Enjoy, and please feel free to comment. Tried IBL?, is it 100x slower for you too? Hmmm, but it certainly looks smoother and slightly "improved" to me. But so expensive.

outstanding interior design. I'm trying to teach myself how to paint in soft shadows, by erasing on layer, over a darker one. Saves hours of render time when done right.

It's super gorgeous but I can not wait 2 weeks for a render....and you probably have a better machine/machines than myself. Won't be using it anytime soon.

Beautiful scene....the lighting really makes this one work! But a 2week render??? Hope you gave your machine a vacation after this one! It sure deserves it. Excellent work.

Very good colors and cool lighting. Seeing outside through the well placed windows makes it timeless.

Reminds me of a museum somewhere in London, a cool but inviting place. But that pointy yellow beanbag on the left doesn't look very comfy.

great image Jim. is there any way to exclude glass from the IBL? I think that is what is eating the time so heavily. In C4D we usually exclude glass from the GI calculations or at least the create GI portion.
