Description


This photo is where the gold was sold in Charters Towers, in North Queensland, Australia. The caller walked back and forth across the passageway in the top centre yelling prices out to the bidders below. Not really sure too much about the actual building, however this was a bustling hive of activity on Saturday nights in the late 1800s. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Never knew they had old passages in Australia too Thanks for sharing the image and info.. It is a special one and I am going to dive into it's history ! see what there is to find online about it.
