Description

I did a rose series last November and December. Around here that's not the best time for roses, but this particular rose was still doing quite well. This was on a rainy afternoon, taken against the sky. Canon AE-1P, 1,4/50 FD lens, Ilford XP2 b/w negative film. The brownish hue is due to the film, but I rather like it so I left it in...

I love the illustration style of this picture and the simlicity of the colors. Well done :)

The sepia tone is a side-effect of the film, actually. It's an Ilford XP2, a black-and-white negative film for development in the usual C-41 colour process, and in the colour process the pictures don't usually come out perfectly b/w. It also partly depends on the exposure; when overexposed the film sometimes goes a little bluish. The advantage is, of course, that you can take the film to every minilab on the corner everywhere in the world and have it developed under controlled circumstances within an hour; and I like the XP2's grain and its colour tones quite a lot anyway.
