Description

"I used to own a dinghy and can still sail one if pushed, but I like the pleasure boats." ~ John Dyer "We were fooling around in the shallows in the dinghy at the time, and I felt this withdrawal abruptly, as though the water had been yanked away from underneath. We bumped and dragged on the stony bottom." ~ Ruth Park

Okay, not the most inspiring quotes, but I challenge you to find a decent quote that uses the word "dinghy." Heheh. Speaking of challenges, I just found out that I was voted the winner for this February's Photography Genre Challenge. I am honored to have won, especially with all of the other wonderful entries, and appreciate those who voted for my image. By the way, the March theme is going to be Still Life, so start thinking about what you'd like to enter. -----

Thanks for your thoughtful comments on my previous upload, thumb_1392969.jpg NDOJOOD And yes, shallow water and the presence of alligators probably makes that sign a good idea. :') ----- Olympus C-8080 & PhotoshopCS. (846) Sponsored by: ott_bot1.gifKramer Kreations ohm.gif

Congratulations on that prestigious honor, Kort! It is certainly well deserved. That said, the excellent photo above displays what happens just moments before the onslaught of a tsunami. The ocean pulls way back, then the monsterous tide comes thundering in to overwhelm everything in its path.

Great shot, the b&w enhances the starkness. Here, with the drought, many of our lakes look like that.

As I'm viewing this I'm wishing I had a dinghy! It has been raining since @ 11 last night. It's on top of ice and snow so we've @ 5 inches so far! I'm wet to my knees getting the boys from the residence hall to the school. I braved th puddles up to my calves to get a van to transport them 1500 yards to the school building! It was raining so hard I almost missed the front door! BJ
