Description

My first full model in Rhino and made from photographs so some of the details have been approximated. Although I really wanted to get this as accurate as possible. I posted this on the Rhino (McNeel) site about 6 months ago so it's not new. Working on some new stuff (PfalzDXII and a SE5a) but a dead computer and a house move put pay to any design work for a while. So I hope you don't mind a old re-post. Played with different methods of construction as I went along. Started on the tail where I used polysurfaces and boolean-differences to carve the final shapes. Moving forwards along the fuselage I got more sophisticated as I learnt more. The Wings where the last thing I did and are wire construction coupled with various lofts and sweeps and show the structure much more clearly I think. This was rendered solely in Rhino and other than the experimental 'dodgy' wood effect I created in Photoshop for the struts and prop there are no other textures. The roundels and other details are just coloured surfaces. Hope you like it.

I have looked at the demo Rhino as a way to get in the current contest here but I probably won't do it. You got a excellent result and I doubt I could come up to speed quickly though Rhino seems to be the best on these kind of aeroplanes.
