Description

"Hey, there's a car crash up the street, Let's go look." "Yeah." ***skitter..skitter..skitter*** "Ooooo, there's an autopsy scene on CSI." "Ooooo, let's go watch." ***skitter..skitter..skitter*** "Ewww, the cops found a human hand along the highway." "Ewww, let's go look at it." "Yeah. Ewww." ***skitter..skitter..skitter*** "Hey, do you think they'll take the tarp off of it?" "Gee, I hope so." ***** My impression of those that are entertained by the shocking, the ugly, gory and sensational. The media knows it's popular, so that's about all they put out. I'm sure you don't need me preaching to you, but if you are truly entertained by watching the gruesome crime dramas and all the negative reality shows, then you slow down on the freeway in order to look at a crash scene, you really ought to step back and ask yourself why.

You know, I don't mind the stuff on TV too much - but sometimes do I have to wonder about some of the stuff that makes its way into a show or movie. As for the real life stuff, I try to not become a rubberneck. I don't gawk at an accident scene. I don't rush outside when a fire truck or ambulance is nearby. Not that I don't care when something happens, but I prefer to keep to myself and stay out of the way.

I know what you mean. Part of it in my case is trying to interpret what remains to determine what happened so we can try to make sure it can't happen again. It's part of what I do for a living and it is not always easy to turn it off at the end of the day.
