Description

Ultrafractal 4.03 - Apophysis 2 betas17 and 21 - Photoshop 7 ------------------------------ "...and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him..." Genesis 4:8 "...the Mark of Cain is on our faces, war and suffering..." Kansas (from "The Pinnacle") "Thou shalt not kill." God ------------------------- Early man eyes a sharpened stone and imagines his first weapon - a cudgel....The "mark" began to slowly appear on man's forehead eons ago... Another one using the skull-like Talis and Friends/Sine-mod shape from my "Darfur" image. One of those things you work on and off on until the "message" becomes clear. Thanks for stopping by and for all your warm encouragement! Rick :-) ***(Fine art giclee' prints of most of my work are available in limited edition on archival paper or canvas - e-mail: drahcir3@hotmail.com and get busy filling that empty spot on the wall!*** :-)

The depth of the skull is fabulous - and the bloody rock surrounded by the foliage is amazing. You Da Man, Rick. You make UF get up and shout.

It is a fine composition, one I find entirely satisfying. Critical is the way the "grass" enfolds the skull which is itself given commanding status by not being obscured in any way. Everything leads there. Strange that, for such a visual reading actually ignores the evident depth. The skull is bereft of flesh so implies a death substantially in the past, whilst the dried? blood suggests a recent brutality. You must have had trouble finding a suitable title. There are times when a title justifies the picture (my preferred approach) and times when it obscures. "Thou shalt not kill," goes somewhat against the reality of life if you widen the stricture to mean keeping harm from all living things. Is existence possible without destruction?
