Description

After a few encouragements and some liquid vitamin B, went out with my camera looking for something to post. Run-off water from this rock ledge was really nothing to look at (it was terrible). But with a little adjustment with the shutter speed, it can look nice. At what point do we change the image of what we really see into something different as shown here? Aloha and thank you for viewing

I live in a flat state, very little in the way of hills and mountains are non existent. Rocks are not a common element, and run off is typically after the rain has landed on the flat sandy soil and is making it's way to the road via osmosis and should it feel most comfortable to just collect in my back yard and back door, so it does....LOL Your beautiful run off gives those like myself the opportunity to enjoy what we do not see around us. Shutter speed picked up the foamy look? Wow! That is a talent you know! Thank you and Good Morning from Jacksonville Florida! [=

We change what we see when it makes things look better. Amazing, it looks like a waterfall until you notice the size of the plants nearby.

Dear Errol, The question is one of what you are trying to do. If you were a hydrologist trying to take a factual picture to measure run off, then you are going to shoot the photo in one way. But if you are looking for artistic content, then you are just using the scene you see as the canvas upon whihc you paint your art. I think all artistic photos are changed one way or another. Just cropping them changes them - you remove something so the viewers focus is directed to what you want them to see!! SO - in my totally blond unprofessional opinion - go for it!!! Do anything you can do to create the art that you see in your mind's eye!!!!! This is a stunning photo - and I suspect that the real world didn't look like this!! But it's a better pciture artistically because we see what you "really saw" in the possibilities of the run off!!!!! Very excellent work!!! Love ya!!! Meredith Meredith Elaine Wilson - MeredithLand

Interesting question. IR has a similar issue. In both cases though, we are recording what is physically there. The camera descides to show it to us in a way we cant see it normally, and that is pretty cool.

taking an excellent picture or fixing after the fact is a natural thing for you. the clear water is really a nice thing to see. very little water running anywhere here except people wasting it by over watering
