Description

Firstly, please view full size to see the detail in the boulders. Ive been trying to find a way to simulate fake stones as convincingly in Mojoworld as it is in TG2, as its such a great feature of TG2. Its taken some time but with the aid of the 2 isosurfaces technique with volumetrics it can be done. This Mars landscape has 2 identical isosurfaces apart from one has some heavily displaced voronoi rocks(heavily displaced so as not to look like voronoi rocks) in world pos that poke up through the other surface. Texturing can then be applied seperately to each surface to suit. Created using Dmy's volumetric plug-in. See ya... Shaun.

Hi Shaun. good work although a bit dark to see TBH. Dmy created a file that ships with Vol plugin "Mars Boulders". Now add some pebbles like beach pebbles & see if that can be done in TG2 :-) Dmys Vol IMHO is far superior to TGD & I rarely use either....TOO MUCH processing required again IMHO.

Nice experiment...You can do it with native Mojo stuff (not Volumetrics), btw. Actually Eric "infidel" did it years ago in his world "Coven" and, I think, Caly did it somewhere too. TG people must be very happy that they finally start to taste things that could be possible in Mojo for a long time:)

I thought it would be possible in native mojo actually slav, i haven't seen those images by ed and caly... Its a bit simpler with volumetrics actually i think, and of course you get all those lovely shadows for free too. The trick is in making the stones not look like voronoi which takes a hell of a lot of test renders in volumetrics as you are working at small scales. Some of Lucbianco's tg2 art with fake stones goes beyond anything ive seen Mojo capable of so far though. No Ang, i have not postworked this image at all.
