Description

It is with only the greatest personal effort that I eschew all "hare" puns herein. Also called the Jackass Hare because of those wonderfully exaggerated acoustic antennae, the Black-Tailed is the commonest of all the hares. Notice how he has one ear pointed toward me, but he keeps the other aimed back at his blind side. Not that he has much to fear in a dog-free park; He's way too big for a redtail hawk to tackle, although an eagle could take him.

We don't have that type in Michigan, although we have lots of the Belgian hare types - small. I have two pet bunnies. Tommy - a black long-haired lop, and Jumpy - a Humane Society adoptee.
