Description

This is the southern wall that encases Fort Morgan. Construction of this fort lasted from 1819 - 1834. It was primarily used during the civil war, but later additions to the fort were made for protection during WWI. This was one of the forts that protected Mobile Bay in Alabama. A picture of the fort from 1864 can be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Fort_morgan_alabama.jpg The picture in the above link will show how high this wall actually is. It has been buried by many hurricanes in the past 173 yrs.
