Description

"Nestled on lakeside A peaceful shelter beckons Reeds whisper softly" ~ Haiku by me

"Okaeri Nasai" is Japanese for welcome home. For those interested, here is my basic methodology for postworking an infrared photograph. I open the file in Photoshop and first I use Auto Levels, then fade it a bit if necessary. I minimize the hot spot as much as possible using a series of circular feathered selections and levels adjustments.

This is an amazing photo. The moons glow upon the trees to the left bring a sense of magic to the scene. Excellent work. Also thank you for describing your post work. I am new to photography and am learning the nuances of both photography and post work.

A stunner. Thank you for the postwork explanation too. I recommend you get your hands on Adobe Camera Raw 4.0 as this could seriously speed up your workflow? Apart from the scratch removal and hot pixel clone, you can do most of this in RAW. Unfortunately you have to fork out for the rest of CS3 though, or get the beta for free ;-)

This has that look of a Japanese print, all right (not the photographic variety, either!). Well done!

Another top rated infrared composition to add to your portfolio! Love those gray/white tones contrasted with the black ambiance. After reading your text, I don't feel so bad about Photoshopping my work to death! Shadows/Highlights and Cloning are a few of my favorite adjustment tools; I would be lost without them.

Kool composition and layout with a point of interest, I really like the contrast of this IR capture...but will it be stolen by the Russian Mafia, like several of us here at Rendo ? better check this link... http://66.249.93.104/translate_c?hl=it&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&langpair=ru%7Cen&u=http://www.artfile.ru/oboi/b/i.php%3Fi%3Da%257C243116&prev=/language_tools Good Luck and Cheers :o(

Excellent...and thanks for the tips. I have a filter on the way and will be using it on an unconverted camera and your tips will give me a place to start. If I'm lucky I'll end with some even half as beautiful as your work. ;o)

What a welcome surprise! I love infra-red photography, especially B/W and I need to ask you Kort, does your camera allow a setting for infra-red or how was the image captured since you most likely did not use film? Thank you for sharing. egmont
