Description

Well still playing about trying new things with my new Pentax K100D. I always have been interested in amateur astronomy and when I was 15, my father got me a Unitron 3" Refractor Telescope with an equatorial mount. I think to be really honest, he bought it so he could play with it too. Where we live on a property in North-western New South Wales, we are blessed with clear air and no light pollution so star gazing is easy. When I got my Pentax K1000, I bought an adaptor for the telescope, but after wasting 3 films without success, I gave up and the K mount adaptor has sat unused in the cupboard for 23 years. Now digital has made it practical. I will be honest and say that I took 30 shots before I got a decent one with the K100D. But in this type of experimentation, Digital beats Film every time. Enjoy

oh look i can see the stars and stripes!! ;P Great detailed shot, especially on the sunset part, i suppose the blue fringing is unavoidable but try stopping down (higher f-number) and it might alleviate the problem slightly. And here starts the astrophotography addiction... i know i would get hooked if i had a similar set up :)

Pretty cool - definitely more than you can get from a conventional glass.

I've always been interesting in the lunar landscape and the possibilities of photographing it in its different stages. I'm still hoping for a camera that will taek good close and clear photos of it. This is outstanding!

That's a super pic! Even more impressive that you shot it on your own telescope. Great job!

This is an incredible shot! WOW!! I have a 35mm SLR, and took pictures sparingly. Never thought of myself as a photographer. I have had my digital SLR for 3 years now, and I have been taking many, many pictures. I would never go back, I agree with you!
