Description

I just started using Poser a few weeks ago and have never dabbled in this type of medium before. This is my first picture in Poser that I've felt is "good enough" to upload. In total I have about 3 hours in this picture as I had no direction when I started as it was my "learn Poser" pic. Any constructive criticism would be welcome. I'm still figuring out the lighting techniques and camera options. No post work was done outside of Poser.

Your first render done exclusively in Poser? I think you did very well! It took me six months to do my first render and it was a single figure with hair, a dress and that was it. Be sure to check out the Poser Forum here. There are lots of knowledgable people who are more than willing to provide feedback and assistance with questions and links to tutorials and freebies and such.

Thank you Acadia. I should have mentioned I spent 3 weeks banging my head against the wall learning to manipulate the figure and still keep the clothing on the model. I finally figured out how to use the "conform to" option last night. LOL. The Practial Poser 7 book has been a big help. I used the scout tower from DAZ and SydneyG2 with the mandigo background, sarasin sword from the crusader pack, armor pieces from the G2 Medieval male pack (resized to fit her arms and legs) at content paradise and the kailynn slave girl for G2 females. Originally I was going to use Miki but I haven't managed to get her to work in Poser 7 yet.

Well you are so advanced with this wonderfully composed scene. I would just like better lighting. Excellent work!

Thank you 1010 for the compliment. I have to say I do not have a good grasp of the lighting in Poser yet. I've only briefly touched the lighting tutorial. My original render of this scene was back lit and the girl was nothing but a dark silloutte. I added a low intensity light at ground level in front of her in an attempt to correct it. I think I'll go back and try to fix the lighting once I finish the new scene I started.

That's a pretty fine first attempt. The lighting needs a bit of work I reckon but you already know that. The lighting in poser is...interesting... and not terribly intuitive either, just keep fiddling around and make notes of what works and what doesn't

Nice work...lighting is atmosphere...if that's the mood you intended...then so be it. Nice composition. A lot of lighting I see in renders just blows the highlights. Keep at it.

This is a very good render for a first render. It was not long ago that I did my first render. I really like how many props you used and overall the scene is very good. Lighting is always a pain. I still work constantly on lighting and it is something that every render I struggle with. At first a big help for me was the free lighting sets you can find here and at other websites. That was able to get me going. There are also fantastic tutorials here and elsewhere that you can work on lighting. Great work on the first render! Hope you enjoy it for a long time.

Yes Well Done I Agree About The Lighting But This Comes With Many Hours Of Work, Start With A three Point Light (Key Light,Fill Light & Back Light). Then You Can Add Lights To This, its all in your book. Great. 5*****

Excellent job! I've had a crack at poser a few times and just haven't got a feel for it (i should probably actually use the tutorials!). I certainly haven't managed anything this good with it! When you get to pro level (which clearly won't take long) you can show me how to use it ;-)
