I am always fascinated by "what might have been" when it comes to technology. There are numerous movies / TV shows about some genius inventor secretly developing technologies years before they actually appeared. Then there is the reality that seems stranger than fiction- as in the case of Tesla, who was working on devices and theories beyond his day. Had his funding not been cut, he might have developed his "worldwide broadcast" system decades before satellites and the internet. His concept of "gripping the earth" and utilizing low frequencies to literally transmit through the entire globe seems more fiction than fact; he came close to proving it.
