Description

It was said of the settling of the American West that the frontier was the "raw edge of civilization." I expect it is equally true of all the other frontiers--that thin edge of expanding humanity--whether today in the jungles of Brazil and a half dozen other countries or in the future among the far-flung planets of distant stars. Colonization, even with the advantages of technology will be easy or totally comfortable. Here is portrayed a convoy of futuristic trucks hauling freight down this planet's equivalent of the Interstate highway or of an autobaun--a fairly descently graded gravel road--at least for this stretch anyway. I'm guessing there just might be security guards sitting in the seats beside the drivers, too. Lawlessness is also a part of frontier as well. Sorry there is no exhaust or dust rising up. Just as I was placing the exhaust on the closest truck, the entire file crashed. Fortunately, I had just saved the .jpegs, so it wasn't a total wash. Think it is good enough to post anyway. On a personal note, today I celebrate 69 years, so in a way this could be considered a birthday card to myself. Passing a milestone is a good thing--lets you know where you are. Smile. I look forward to the next one, and the next, and the next.... Anyway, thanks for dropping by and taking a look at an "almost finished" picture. Great job on all the details here. I am not seeing a problem with the truck but I'm not good with vehicles. The cacti and mood are fantastic!

Looks great!! Don't lament the lack of dust, for I see it as the trucks have come to a stop, the dust has settled, and all the workers went to the cafe on the other side of the field to get food or beer (or whatever it is workers do). You need only to seduce the imagination by invitation. Very inviting! Good job!

Actually, the reason there is no dust, is OSHA declared the area a dust free zone, and the hefty penalty leveled on violators generally sees it enforced. Seems like even in the frontier, you can run, but you can't hide, when it comes to bureaucracy. ;o) Happy 69!

CRASH!!!!! I understand your pain! Luckily you had the jpeg, but I know how it feels when you want to add some little details to make the picture even better and you can't. I've gone back to 5.5 for now. Anyway, great job here! The exhaust isn't really needed. Great sky!
