Description
This is the location of a small fishing village that had to be abandoned when a huge storm struck a while back destroying everything in its path. The disaster was partly due to the fact that a protecting layer of stones just offshore had been removed to help with the construction of Devonport Dockyard a few miles down the coast.
There are still a few intact houses where the front door is right on the cliff edge (just behind the ruin in the foreground). I think somebody is still using them as holiday lets but not too sure as they may have been closed for health and safety reasons.

Thanks for looking and have a great weekend.

So sad to see this.. I understand about coastal erosion living in Bay, looks like it was given a not needed hand.. by removal of the protective layer of stone. This is a wonderful capture. Take care yourself when climbing cliffs like this, please. Excellent work you captured the mood here very well. Diane.

Yeah this was some time ago and sad there is little left of the west countries fishing industry.. Some of the villages in Cornwall you were not considered to be a local unless you could look out to sea!!
