Description

Hi all Many thanks for all the previous comments and crits and your continued support. This is one I've been working on for ever, well ever since I was inspired by Kenwas, I just had to make a seafearing scene, I do feel happy with the way this has turned out but I tried to improve it but couldn't, I suppose photoshop could have but that's not me, anyway hope you like it as it is. The awesome Seatraveler created by Kaol here @ rendo. Many thanks for looking and leaving a crit or comment will always be appreciated. Chris

Wow - that's quite an atmosphere, you have conjured up here. Wonderful. If anything - there could have been a tad more light on the "hard ship", to add some detail. But then again it also looks realistic without it - so it's more a matter of choice than ability. Great work, Chris!

The ship is awesome. One thing to try, place the sun in the sundown position, half below the horizon to the left of the ship, then you can get some awesome shadow effects on the ship as well as the waves. It would also show off the ships detail a bit better.

Great image! You know, I also bought that wonderful Seatraveller but, like you until now, I couldn't imagine a good scene to use it. But in your image it looks so good, that I'm tingling to use it soon! Thanks!

Hey Chris!I love this shot. The only thing missing is light coming through the sails. You mentioned you don't like using photoshop but there is a tool that would be useful. If you applied the dodge and burn wich in this case would be the dodge tool and applied it to the sails you would have a warm transparent feel to your masts. It's just a suggestion. With out it your picture still looks beautiful. Cheers Dean!

The sea looks great. Sometimes a volumetic cloud under the boat make a good frothy waterline.

Truly beautiful scene. It's moody and atmospheric while they follow after the sun. Great art. I can see this above a mantle piece.

Yes this is a perfect example of a sail ship under these light conditions, the sails are of heavy material and are letting the right amount of light seep through from that angle. It is an excellent ship Chris and superb atmo. Well done!

I can't see how you could have improved on this very much - the lighting is wonderful (and wow what a wonderful ship she is)! Maybe some crewmen on board might have added something - but is an awesome image as it is :) Well done!!!
