Description

And they sit. And Stare. And feed thier machines. And thier addictions. And thier lonelyness. They will not be happy when they go home. But they will come again anyway. They do not talk to each other. But they call this a social activity. The sprint of the rat race. The allure of intermittent rewards. The promise of something for nothing. Leaving exactly nothing. But empty wallets. And lives. This is part of a series titled "Rock Bottom". I moved to Las Vegas about six months ago, though not by choice. The title is a reference to my position at the time, both financially and emotionally, as well as to what this bizare place does to the people who get sucked in by it. It's truly amazing to see how quickly we loose our humanity in the name of entertainment. This isn't a tirade against gambling, but a commentary on how easily humanity lets itself be sucked in and the worst of ourselves drawn out.

Again, very powerful series. Exactly like rats. I was in Vegas once; think I blew $5 in quarters and found it a particularly silly way to throw money away. It is a good place for people photos. Life.

Excellent slice of life image. You have crystallized a complete perspective on life into one single photo. Your composition reminds me a lot of the heydays of Life magazine's photo essays.
