Description

Carn Dearg sits on the edge of the Monadh Liath plateau. South of the summit, it is a narrow steep sided craggy ridge running SSE to Carn Macoul, but to the NW there is a broad col which connects to Carn Ban, 942m. The normal ascent is from the top of Gleann Ballach, ascending N of the crags and S of Carn Ban to attain the col, or over the high Monadhliath plateau from Carn Sgulain in the NE.
