Description

This type of lavender originated in France. The bees love it but when I whip out the camera they fly away :(

They must be very shy. Perhaps you'll come across a Ham bee and it will put on a little show for you. Just don't upset it! :^) Beautiful macro of this lovely bloom.

Wonderful macro capture. I've never seen lavender of that variety. It is gorgeous! I am so often speechless over nature's beauty. I feel like everything has been placed here as a gift for us. It makes me feel so loved. This is an example of why I feel that way. Hugs, x:)

Great macro, Rozanne. I have come across a similar genus of bee, perhaps apis shius camerae, before. The trick is to hum to them a lot ;o) They will not stay still very long at any one flower, but do like lavender a lot. The honey made from lavender is very aromatic and smooth tasting. I was going to buy some last year in Fuengirola, but balked at the weight and possible glass breakage on the flight back to 'sunny' Glasgae. The sun was out today, but in the biting wind it is definitely tammy and scarf time. Many football fans are at Hampden today, for the Euro 2008 qualifier against Georgia. Presently it's a 1 - 1 draw. Scotland have managed to frighten the crossbar a few times in this match. Have a nice weekend. Regards, John.
