I looked through my bird book and couldn't find this exact bird .. but I THINK it's some sort of Finch. Male, of course -- that much I DO know! Why is it the guys get all the good looks??? lol

Purple Finch, House Finch..I can't tell. I do love the shot on the evegreens. You have disobeyed the rule of thirds and gotten away with it..quite well.

Good point by TomDart, maybe the balance was struck by the combination of the House finch and the greenery to the right of the bird, fantastic capture, excellent DOF.
