Description

This flowering currant (Ribes sanguineum) lives in my back yard. These deciduous shrubs are native to the West Coast of North America, and range from Central British Columbia to Central California. They grow mostly between the Pacific Ocean and the Cascade Mountains. Their sole purpose in life seems to be to vex me by being blurry. I'm quite sure the flowers are blurry, because I have taken upwards of 200 photographs of the danged things this Spring, and all but two of 'em were blurry! The flowers grow on slender, flexible branches, and they sway in the slightest breeze. They just WILL NOT hold still! (At one point I even cut some and brought them inside. They were blurry too.) The blossoms actually do have these little fuzzy hairs on the outside that capture pollen and moisture, but even so. Blurry flowers. This weekend I finally got a couple of shots that turned out. Life is good! Now I can stop running outside to take more pictures of the bush every time the sun comes out! I hope you like this, because I'm going to post the other one tomorrow!
