Description

Ok, as per the various criticisms I received on the ealier version, I deleted all the old lights and used spotlights only. Four around the edges of the Bay, colored dark blue, and one aimed at the couple, in a lighter blue, positioned just above the Rover's spot lights. Her arms were adjusted and her hands and fingers as well, hope it looks better. I did NOT Toon the render this time. EDIT: Had to reset shadows to depth mapping. No shadows in the first one because Poser was not raytracing them for some reason. Not much I can do with his hair. Any flaws are in model and textures, and I can't do postwork hair at all. At least, not yet. :) Credits on this image are the same as the first version. If you see anything that can be improved further, please jump on it. Heh. Greywolf

just as an fyi, because you mentioned the hair and its textures: i notice it has baked in highlights, which can keep a hair from responding properly to light. in this thread bagginsbill provides instructions about how to turn a texture with burned in highlights into the basis for hair that can be any color and takes highlights from the lights. it's easiest with light colors. i liked the toon effect, but this is an equally good style. the lighting is much improved. the blue metal feels much more in keeping with the futuristic technologies. it was always a great scene and now it's even better.

Much much much better now, at all levels! For me the "weak point" of this pic is the floor, specially in full-size. The texture seem very low-rez. But that's a detail.

Excellent work. I can definitely say that I am "feeling it". Her contentment and love is very apparent. Have you cranked up the compression on the output JPEG very high. It looks like there are some artifacts that are either due to maxed out compression or low res textures really s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d out? Your image is 1500 pixels wide but is only 133KB - so I think it is the compression. I tend to aim for just below the 512KB file size - since usually the compression isn't noticeable. Also did you render to JPEG, because this is a fairly bad idea - since you have no control of the compression. I prefer rendering to a large resolution PNG (small file size and lossless quality) and then Post work the reduction in size and quality (that I am allowed to upload) and save as JPEG. Fortunately Paint Shop Pro has a JPEG save wizard that shows the final size for the requested compression. Strangely, I quite liked the browns of the previous version but blue is my favorite. I am, however, deeply suspicious of blokes who henna their hair. I still see a little poke through on her sleeve through his jersey.

Her thighs seem a little off to me, too thin, though that could be the angle and the dark material. I know when i sit like that (DO i? LOL), my thighs compress.

1 - the green stuff does't fit the cromatic of the composition 2 - the jeans are too fastened to his bottom. 3 - i like the poses and the overall mood

I didn't see that you had redone this and addressed the shadows - I like it MUCH better, particularly the shadowing around the hands and on Sweetwater's shirt.

The shadows are much better now. The mood of the picture has changed of course, but I like the blue version better. Great pose, good picture.

I think that this is an excellent render. My own artistic skills are such, that in all humility, I dodn't fgeel competant to offer criticisms. On the other hand, while certain portions of it may possibly thisbe improved, I believe that this work is well done, and is a sure reflection of your vision, taste, and skill as an artist. DO keep them coming! DPH

I like this non-toony style better. The mood and lighting are much improved. Just watch your .jpg compression values, cos I'm seeing artifacting.
