Description
This is dedicated to Vaggabondd. It's his favorite subject matter! He said something to me a couple of days ago that inspired me to write this.
"My man" is Martin, my real-life partner. Other than that, if you think this poem is about YOU, it is! :) (And if you know Randy, you'll know where I got THAT bit, as well!)
I painted the title page in ArtRage, and did the text and framing in Photoshop.
LOVE
Let's talk about love, shall we?
If I tell you
I love my man,
You probably know what I mean.
Romantic love.
Warm kisses,
Easy conversation,
Great sex,
Impossible-to-describe moments
That transcend . . .
Everything.
Routinely spectacular.
Comfortable.
Wonderful.
* sigh *
Yes.
And if I tell you
I love green beans,
You all know what I mean.
Tender.
Steamy.
Never enough.
A little butter and pepper,
And I'm in Nirvana.
Kentucky Blue,
Blue Lake,
Fresh from the garden,
Perfectly done.
Mmmmmmmmmmmm.
(Well, maybe you didn't know
How MUCH I love green beans!)
And if I tell you
I love my girlfriends,
You women know what I mean.
Intimate communication,
Secrets shared and kept,
Late nights
Laughing and crying,
Feeding each other's souls.
If it feels like I've known you
Forever,
It doesn't matter if it's been
Twenty years
Or six weeks.
Essential connections,
Outside space and time.
And if I tell you
I love my guy friends,
I hope you know what I mean.
Men are great!
The ones I spend time with are fun.
(If you're not having fun with your men,
Get some different men.
Life's too short
To hang out with crabby guys.)
Mine are charming,
Helpful,
Smart,
And occasionally
Special beyond all reason
Or expectation.
And if I tell you
I love art,
You certainly know what I mean.
Painting,
Writing,
Photography -
It feeds my soul.
Every day
I see something
That moves me,
Inspires me,
Keeps me creating,
Leaves me wanting more.
And if that isn't love,
I don't know what is.
Many kinds of love,
All wonderful.
So now let's talk about
"Falling In Love,"
Which is a totally different thing.

I am trying to be objective but damn it I really think this is your best poem ever :) lol. I do love love. I love to talk about love, write about love, be in love and spend my life searching for love. Love is a conncection of souls that bonds to people together forever. Mostly I love who you dedicated it to. hahaha Very nice indeed

Now, I calmly come along almost three years after this mini-masterpiece was written and am borrowing this as a foundation (a start point) for some of my own evolving thoughts on the subject. I find no fault in a thing you've written. Your informal style is my favorite style. Your surprise ending leaves me on the edge of my seat wondering what will come next. Is it possible for there to be a next??? I don't think so. Anybody who claims to be able to change their mate probably better think that one through again. You and I claim no such power...and that's a good thing:)
