Description

This picture began simply as the pile of stones in the foreground, then turned into a long exercise in learning how to tweak the atmospheric settings, then developed into a quest to find out how best to create my own texture and bumpmap in Photoshop (thankyou Agent Smith!) before I finally settled on a focus for the image: "Soon, it would be time leave the Blue Planet: their many hundreds of orbits work were drawing to a close as they carefully placed the very last of their 'Children' in a safe place in the warm glow of the planet's single star. Their vast interstellar ships would shortly descend gently through the atmosphere to collect the intrepid scientists and carry them away once more so they could continue their noble work within the next planetary system that was on their ancient list. They would leave behind many tens of thousands of their fantastic habitats, scattered across the entire surface of the planet. These habitats where were they nurtured and developed their 'Children' and once they sprang forth, the habitats would provide vital nutrients and fluids to assist their early growth; each habitat a cosmic egg-yolk. Over time, the habitats would gradually disappear beneath the surface as natural geological processes erased all trace of them along with all evidence of how life came to find its way to this particular planet. There was plenty of time; beings with sufficient intelligence to understand the profound significance of what they would see here would not evolve for at least another 250 million years - the secret of Life was safe, and this was just how the Guardians had planned it to be for they wanted their Children to look to the stars for the answer to this, the greatest of all mysteries." All my own work. I created the texture on the habitat myself (which was a great learning experience

Excellent! I really like the colors, especially the distant background. The eggs really make ya wonder what else is around this place. Excellent lonely/exploratory feeling/mood to this. 5 from me.

I like the texture you have created. You should put a link to this image in the forum thread you made while you were researching to do this. Nice scene all around. I like the scale and POV.
