Theyrrrrrrre baaaack! Yes, the balls are back. Chihuly has returned to Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden in Miami for an even more extensive exhibit lasting five months. The glass globes, floating onions and ice bergs, long stalks, and strange twisty creations have taken up residence in the gardens again, much to my delight. Last weekend we visited the gardens with a family friend visiting from Germany and had a wonderful time. Here is an overview of part of the installment in their "Rainforest" area. Fairchild Garden has the largest contiguous section of rainforest in the Northern American continent at just under 3 acres. It is rather sad to think that in South America, we loose approximately 100 acres a day to deforestation, but that is another topic. Anyway, a path winds through some very lovely foliage and over running streams, and the Chihuly art is placed in a manner harmonious with the surroundings.
Note the red globe on the left. The first time we walked through this section it was as you see it here. Passing through later, I happened to see this little green lizard sunning itself on the red glass. I had to zoom in to my camera's full 12x and act quickly because he start to crawl out of sight. This was the only photo I was able to get, but I rather like the way it turned out. Sorry about all the water residue on the glass, I don't have the time or patience to postwork it out. If anyone has a quick and easy solution to get rid of it, while retaining the reflection of the surroundings, please let me know. Also, please be sure to view the image full size, thanks. I'll be away on vacation until April 9th, so let me wish everyone a healthy and happy week ahead! -----

Great color combination, brings out life with that green. However there's one thing that I fail to understand, where's the photographer's reflection??? Or am I not seeing it correctly?
danob
Bravo wonderfully colourful and super composition

@TheWarlock: As I mentioned, I was a good distance away and this is a full 12x zoom. This is also about a 40% crop of the full frame photo, then reduce in size for the web by about 50%. I'd be VERY impressed if you could make me out in the spherical surface. My guess would be that I would be in the shadows over to the right somewhere.

I see nothing wrong with the glass. the lizard is beautiful contrasting against the red and good that you will be able to get more captures of the glass sculptures

Chihuly's baaaaaaaaaaaack! LOL. Love this capture, Kortalouche and I don't mind the water droplets at all. The contrast of the bright green on the red works really well. Looking forward to seeing your new vacation pix when you return. Have a wonderful time!!!- M :^)

i like this mainly because of the colours... nice capture and hope you had/have a good time wondering around the exhibit :) Oh and that last shot, i did take a look, but either my brain has stopped working completely or the vanishing points are generally so far out of the frame that the lines are almost parallel... =S do tell :)
