Description

Just got back to st andrews and i have a load of stuff on my Card to sort through from my week back home in Stratford, so these next few shots are me playing around down there. My dad has an old minolta film slr and i managed to "obtain" the flash unit of it... it is very old and works with my canon but with very limited use - i have to manually guage the exposure if i am using it onboard or like with this shot just use it as a "light"... My mum came out with me for this shot and was actually holding the flash here - fired it 4 times from behind the right hand side post with a 30 second exposure i think. Oh and yes , this is a gate with no fence... in the middle of a field... i didnt get it either :) Anyway - hope you like it ;) Rich

What a lovely night shot...a real feeling of solitude. The lighting is, ...impressive.

Good to see you back! I really like this shot and I love the lighting, despite the complex way of achieving it! Lovely "English" atmosphere!! xx

Nice shot - I like the pianting with light style, I hope you get round to trying some more. Providing the flash holder is wearing dark clothes and moves quickly it doesn't matter if they get in the frame because it will not show. The technique works well with coloured gels or celophane on the flash too.

everything about this picture is brilliant from the composition to the colours, but i think its a little bit underexposed. i think the gate & ground around the gate needs a little brighting. but thats jus my oppinion. it still is a very very fantastic image.

I love how the flashes highlighted certain areas, that and the composition give it a fantastic mood. Very creative experiment, it paid off big time. Nice work for sure!!
