On Jan. 11 Robert Anton Wilson died. This picture is a memorial image that I did. It is based on the cover painting to his book 'The Trick Top Hat' which was part of the Schroedinger's Cat trilogy.It will be used in Silver Star # 7 as part of the memorial essays. It is of Durga or if you are western it is Babalon. I first heard of RAW when in the early '70's I received a 'Bavarian Fire-drill'from him and others.(if you've never gotten one, a Bavarian Fire-drill consists of a manila envelop into which 10 'illuminating' things have been placed.You are instucted to take something out,put something enlightening in, and send it off to the next person to be illuminated.). I first read a primordial version of the infamous 'Prinipia Discordia' then. I found out that this person RAW was then working for the Bunny empire along with Robert Shea as a Playboy Advisor and would publish short stories in magazines like Hustler and Oue. Eventually these were put together to form he ILLUMINATUS trilogy (The Eye In The Triangle,The Golden Apple,Leviathan). Since reading these books I have been totally imune to all this conspiracy,secret society nonsense that is so popular.RAW cured me! After this he published my favorite of his books:The Comic Trigger. I liked especially the part where he talks about the murder of his daughter Luna in a holdup. Next came the Schroedinger's Cat trilogy(The Universe Next Door,The Trick Top Hat,The Homing Pigeon) which tell the same story with the same characters,but in 34 different Quantum Universes! It is the most painless way to be introduced to Quantum Mechanics that I can think of. Then came books about the Historical Illuminati(The Earth Will Shake,The Widows Son,Nature's God). These are about young Cagliostro's adventures with the Illuminati during the years before the French Revolution. Then followed a series of books that were about the evolution of consciousness and politics. The most famous is probably "Prometheus Rising'. It is hard to judge the impact that he has had on modern consciousness thinking.He will be missed. 23fnord!
