Description

I actually got this idea from a house I almost bought awhile ago... It has a kinda retro 70's feel to it and thats something I've always loved. I spent quite a bit of time building this scene but I think it turned out pretty nice. Maybe at some point I'll decide to add a figure to it and I think I could probably go for realism when I do... Who knows, we'll see. Floor and glass texture made in PSP. Anywho, look forward to seeing what everyone has to say! :D

I'm confused, I'm not at all sure what of what I'm looking at here, especially after reading your dedication. I doon't see any 'glass', and I don't see a 'floor'. What I see is one wire-cage sphere inside another wire-cage sphere, siting on corner of a tile counter top, with te edge of an embossed copper wall decoration showing on the extreme right side of the picture. That said, it is an interesting render, and shows a great deal of time and care. DO keep up the good work. DPH

Well what you consider a tile countertop is actually a floor and what you consider an embossed copper deco... is actually an engraved glass wall deco. The 'cages' you see are my pathetic attempt at building a somewhat retro abstract statue that could be pleasing to the eye...

I would propose to add some variation and randomness to the texture on the right. As it is, there are some repetitions of the pattern (probably the brush format). Maybe you should make 4 or 5 slightly different brush formats for this purpose.

wow, it's interesting you say that this 70's. because my immediate reaction was, "this doesn't look realistic at all." but then you said 70's, and i realized immediately looked fake (to me) in the way that most 70s furniture and interior design looks fake to to me. i think you really caught the color palette and design elements. that takes a skilled eye. you might work a bit on the glass material, especially if i'm remembering correctly and you're new to poser 7. there's a thread in the node cult at rdna by bagginsbill about metal and glass that you might find helpful. i hate to say it because i bet you spent a good amount of time on it, but i really don't think the cage sculpture works. it looks more 3d cg style than 70's. cool scene; i'll be looking forward to seeing how it progresses.

Interesting POV, but i think the glass wall deco could be just a little improved.

Definately 70's retro. I'm not sure about the wall hanging, but the floor is spot on.

Hmm. I'm with dphoadley. Cant see any glass. Really. I see that the floor texture is not right aligned. try changing UV alingment. Add Bump/Displacement to floor tiles. Add Bump/Disp. to the wooden walls. (just a little) Turn down the light a little, use AO. Change the surface attributes of the brass sculpture to make it more metallic. Fixing the glass is more difficult. If there's something behind it, you may need refraction and the right refraction index. No matter if there's something behind the glass or not you may add raytraced reflection. Anyways, if you need some info on the node settings I will start Poser and look what the correct numbers are. Please don't let this comment discourage you :)

an interesting use of materials. reflections could make the metals more convincing, as well as the glass, unless the glass is meant to be frosted in some manner.
