Nice 1st D|S post, and your gallery has some terrific fractals too. The only real contructive criticism I can offer to you is on the lighting. Your lights caught the "wall" of the environment and shadowed it. This can be avoided by setting the lights at a steeper angle. The OpenGL renders are great for lighing/shadows test renders and are very quick. You're off to a great start, can't wait to see what's next.

Oh and I love the teensy little fairy in the tree, sitting in the hole in the trunk! This is precious !! Wow, your first? Excellent!
