My real name is Andrew, and I'm thirtysomething, living in Yorkshire, England. I work as a gardener at a large country house. BIOI've drawing and painting ever since I can remember, usually fantasy or sci-fi subjects but I'm not averse to doing the occaisional landscape or whatever else pops into my head. I'm also a keen photographer and having just moved to digital this has opened up all sorts of possibilities!
I tend to do most of my work on the computer now, rather than on paper, using Truespace for the 3D stuff and Photoshop for everything else.
When I'm not being creative at the computer I'm heavily - and I mean 'heavily' into astronomy! Most clear nights will find me outside with my telescope (a computer controlled 10" dob) until the small hours of the morning! I haven't got into astrophotography yet, but it's on my to do list!
As you may have noticed I'm influenced/inspired by the following artists/musicians:
Rodney Matthews
Salvador Dali
Hieronymous Bosch
Chris Achilleos
Boris Vallejo
Clannad
Iron Maiden
Mike Oldfield
Jean Michel Jarre
Kate Bush
Vangelis
And many,many more. ;)

Nice! Could also be a bugs meeting or a family reunion.

Those plants will be so well taken care of with that many lady bugs. I am always so happy to see them in my garden. great shot.

When I take the mouse in front of your image, it has been rated only 3.5 on 5 stars, and which is strange is that nobody has emitted the slightest critics trying to defend such a severe judgement. It is true that these cute little beetles are not very sharp. I think that if you used a serious camera equipment, i.e. a digital SLR with specific macro lens, and used some priority (aperture-priority for example) with a very closed diaphragme, you could have a much sharper shot. But you can find some excuse for 3 reasons. First, such "beetle meeting" is not very common. Number two, because you were working, you ought to do that secretely, and such a heavy camera cannot be hidden you were not paid to take pictures, LOL! Number three, the reproduction ratio is very high, so the depth-of-field is accodingly very short. Therefore, to encourage you to share with us these nice picts, I shall give a 5+! If you have Photoshop, you can use the Filter "Sharpen" or "Sharpen edges" to improve the feeling of sharpness, or use the Sharpener tool but do not abuse otherwise it damages the pictures.

Beautiful, funny and lovely capture!!!

Just to clarify a few points that Elcet raised... I appreciate this isn't the sharpest of pictures but 1. I was in a hurry, lol. 2. It was a pretty gloomy day and I'd left my tripod in the car so camera shake was always going to be an issue. 3. In macro mode my camera needs several attempts to focus on the part of the image I want it to - the manual focus on this (Dimage Z1) is frankly useless for macro work. This is the best of eight shots. Maybe I should have pointed this out earlier but I don't always think straight first thing on a morning, lol. :) - Andy -

Love it! Some years are really good for ladybugs, and in the Fall the entire corner of the building I work in will be covered with them. It's quite a sight!
