Description

A wedge shaped scoutship of about 118 displacement tons. Basically, a massively modified cylinder. The geometry still isn't complete, so the UV map is just a fairly simple two-tone gray photoshop cloud filter effect. I like the way the lettering came out though. The engine effect is merely a placeholder for future geometry; also serves as a guide. This started out as me just playing with adapting Jesse De Graff's tutorial for building the Traveller scout to Wings. My ship is completely non-canonical, but I really like the boat hull shape. Rendered in Wings 3D with open gl renderer. I intend to import the model into Poser or Bryce when it's complete. Thanks for looking.

At 118 d-tons, this can't be too different from a typical Sulie. A proven configuration which has withstood the test of time. I assume the deck is on a single level? A great start!

I've often wondered just how many Traveller fans hang on this sight? Seems that I'm always seeing Traveller inspired work. This is a really nice start! Makes me want to pull some of my older attempts out and see if my skills have improved enough to do them justice, after all it was Jesse De Graff's work that got me interested enought to by my fist copy of RDS5.5! Thanks for waking up the memories, and keep up the great work! mike

oh...I was lost there..;) don't know a thing about Traveler, but this is a pretty good start. But the UVMapping looks like a lot of work...good stuff there.

There are a few of us traveller fans here. Good start harden an edge or two to give it a bit more defined look.
