Description

This is a prequel to my last post. Note: When I got the idea for this iceberg scene I thought it was going to be real easy to do... just a bunch of white rocks... , but I had a really hard time matching all the textures and lighting to make it look not so awful, and I'm still not satisfied with it. Some scenes are just harder to do than they look... oh well. I guess I bit off more than I could chew. Bryce 6.1, Warraok Kitt from Daz, and a bit of Paint shop Pro 9.

That is fantastic! The scene looks very real. :) If you wanted to sell it just a little more, there's two things you could do. The easiest would be to take it into photoshop, and copy it to another layer, and add a sort of blue-glow to the icebergs and keep it to the edges that are backlit, which would add some translucency. You could also add the caustic reflection of the sunlight on the water on the undersides of the icebergs and the side of the ship. It doesn't really need that, though, as it looks very realistic without it. :)

This is excellent. The shape of the icebergs is superb. There may be a couple of instances where it just did not quite turn out perfect (on the larger two bergs on the right).but as you say, this kind of stuff is really diffcult! Your water, the ships wake (which is REALLY hard to do)....came out so incredibly well, that minor gliches wiht the icebergs are incidental.

This is an amazing piece of art, everything about it is meticulously sculpted, textured and laid out in a very convincing fashion. I stumbled upon this image at bryce-alive.org, which linked me to your gallery here. You paid attention to details that would normally go unnoticed, such as flattening out the waves in the ship's wake and the realistic reflections in the water. This image needs no improvement and shows your dedication to your art.
