Description

This was my sons first time hiking with me out to the lava field. We left the parking area at 5 pm and found the lava an hour later. Son was a little nervous at first as he didn't know what to expect. I assured him that he would be ok and before you know it, he was playing with the lava ooze. Who knows? Maybe one day when I retire from these lava hikes, I'll be passing the lava torch to him. Aloha and thank you for viewing

Its nice to pass on tradition and knowledge. I have been teaching my 2 older grandchildren some of the old ways that are now lost to most people I know. Great shot and good story.

Wonderful shot, Errol. Given where you are and how hot this lava is, you may be passing your son a literal flaming torch. :-)

Fantastic! How young is your son? I'm sure he's with one of the best lava walkers there are! I can surely understand why he would be nervous though .. that hunk of lava looks mighty powerful! TY so much for sharing!

Sounds like you two had a lot of fun. The lava in this shot is particularly creepy, looking almost organic and alive.
