Description
Captured 4/1/07 at the beautiful Descanso Gardens at the foot of the beautiful San Gabriel Mountains in beautiful LaCanada/Flintridge, California.
In any event, I like the subtle transition of very light to moderate dark in this macro.
Thanks for the visit, and have a wonderful Easter/Passover.

Can't explain it, but as soon as I seen this I knew it was yours! Fabulous capture, it looks so perfect and what colors huh? Nice work for sure!!

I believe It is a Camellia. Their petals are one of the major componets of Camomille Tea.
MrsLubner
My best guess - a peonie. And camellias do not work well in tea. Camomille tea is from the camomille plant which I love to grow but it spreads faster and wider than mint plant in the garden. (They also tend to have lavender or off-pink blooms on stalks and resemble a bell or trumpet-type flower...small) I had to hire 2 young men to spend 3 days digging mine out when it got out of control. Very nice shot. Oh, and your idea that I get a hazmat suit really bares merit! :-)

LOL...where is PJ when we need her, she so good at identify flowers...my guess is camelia, I have it in white with a very similar petals arrangment. Either way cool strong yellow right into our face.

Hi Harry, Great shot, I don't know much about flowers, but it looks like a Renuncula to me. Sharon

magnolia or wisteria. I doubt if it's an iris or lilac--well none of these. Mrs Lubner is probably correct.beautiful flower no matter the name

this is so lovely yellow flower here

It's a ranunculus. (Habanerobabe is correct.) I don't know what visitor's guide you got ahold of, but boy, did they steer you wrong! None of the plants you listed is even close. Regardless . . . your shot is fabulous! Beautiful capture, and the light is perfect.
