Well, here's my more ambitious work. I ran into some software limitations in this attempt. To get a clear view of the seven little spacemen in the image I had to render a large high quality picture. When I tried to use volumetrics, the render time shot up into the hundreds of hours and displayed some nasty little artifacts. Large artifacts, actually. So instead I used a vertical infinite plane to simulate the dust, and the render time dropped to three hours. It took a little bit of post work to make the some of the background rocks hazy, and I know it looks a little dark, but I hope people think it's okay turned out okay. I may do a couple of zoomed in renderings of the two groups of spaceman and make the whole thing into a triptych.
