Description

Well, here's my more ambitious work. I ran into some software limitations in this attempt. To get a clear view of the seven little spacemen in the image I had to render a large high quality picture. When I tried to use volumetrics, the render time shot up into the hundreds of hours and displayed some nasty little artifacts. Large artifacts, actually. So instead I used a vertical infinite plane to simulate the dust, and the render time dropped to three hours. It took a little bit of post work to make the some of the background rocks hazy, and I know it looks a little dark, but I hope people think it's okay turned out okay. I may do a couple of zoomed in renderings of the two groups of spaceman and make the whole thing into a triptych. Thanks as always for looking and commenting. --- Late October 2520 -- somewhere in Saturn's A Ring: "This has got to be the first boarding action of the War." "Probably the first boarding action in this century or last, I would say." "Right. Normally they either surrender or get blown to hell. Think anyone is still alive in there?" "Well, they took that massive hit that scrapped off the top blister, and at least two engines tubes are cracked

I like it. Would be interested in seeing it from the point of view of both sets of spacemen as they are almost lost in this view. Still has a nice look to it.

A little on the dark side, but I like the setup, the render, use of lights (except I want to see more), the use of all of your objects. It's not too crowded, but right on the edge. Good job.

I for one think this is FANTASTIC! The dust fx are superb. The Saggitarius looks awesome. And I especially, immensely like like the silhouette of the guy in the far ship.
