Description

Taken across Lake Macy at my DMC-FZ50's full 12x zoom (420mm) (no tripod but propped on a railing), these dragonflyings were jockeying for a postion to land on this submerged log. I am not sure quite what their purpose was because as soon as one would land, it would take off and another would take its place. I wasn't able to get a photo of any of them landed, so posted these two of the dragonflies swirling around. Here is a view of the uncropped photo if you are interested:

Thanks for your balanced comments on my previous upload, thumb_1423258.jpg Perched This was also taken at a 12x zoom and cropped, so detail suffered slightly. ----- Panasonic DMC-FZ50 & PhotoshopCS. (874) Lake Helen, FL, USA 2007 Sponsored by: ott_bot1.gifKramer Kreations ohm.gif

I have to say that I prefer the uncropped version (probably because of the water ripples!) but this is an amazing capture at full zoom with only balance rather than tripod - excellent shot. xx

Maybe they were laying their eggs on the log. In the photos they look like they're strafing the thing. Great shot with 420mm lens.

A 12x zoom without tripod fantastic! Even you you took the railing the quality of this cropped photo looks really fascinating! What a beautiful mirror effect here! It looks that no postwork is involved here! Did you try the to reduce the brightness here! It would look wonderful as well if the water would have a darker resp.a more intense blue?!?!

Maybe they were trying to log some more flight hours while waiting for clearance to land. Fascinating to watch, I'd bet it would be fun to animate these little fellas...

A cool image and camera I use the Panasonic FZ20 with full zoom of 436mm but the quallity is not great on full zoom, it works fine up to about 400mm

Maybe it is just simply curiosity, or checking for food. Great captures, and fun viewing and speculating.

Okay, I'll say it...LOL at making something from nothing. You had an interesting capture, but what you did with it was great. You made it interesting, and that's all that matters, in my book...I always enjoy seeing what you do, Kortalouche...-M :^)
