Description
I just bought a new computer - Core Duo 6600 with 4meg onboard cache, and 2 Gig DDr2 RAM. I also upgraded to Windows Vista to help take advantage of the nowfound processing power.
First step was to redo this old scene of mine with full blown caustics and soft shadows at a nice size (1600 pixels wide). My old machine just couldnt handle this, but this new box did it in just under 3 hours.
48 million photons.
Resized down to 1200 pixels in Ulead PhotoImpact 10.

2 MEGS of ram!? i hope you meant GIG..lol...j/k.. Anyways, this looks pretty awesome. I think the caustics are a bit strong. The wine glass shadow looks a bit too solid to me. But overall it's really nice! -chachi

Great details and textures, very nicely rendered! My computer wouldnt be able to render that image, too, so I know what you felt like :D

This must be a load of calculations, great computer and composition and now some animations :-) I would love to see the image with a lower jpg compression though

Congrats on the new computer! This is an incredibly, beautiful scene! I agree that some of the shadows are too strong, but it's still a 5 star image for me!
