Can we work on this together and all learn lighting? There is one distant light pointing at the ground just so it shows up. Give me a clueX4 PLEASE? Thanx guys, I know many ppl struggle with this, I don't mind making mine public, lol.

DLG- in my opeion, the shadows are well placed, but i would of placed her higher up, and have the book floating as well, but over all a great render

DLG... Anytime the character has shadows like this on the underside of the face, MY answer to it is a point-light. Remember, Distant lights for flat lighting and shadow. Spot light for more direct light and shadow, Point light for highlighting, glow, emphasis, and to bring out areas such as the under shadows in her face. I also agree with Dryden, I would have had her hovering a bit higher as well the book. And babes... your back left tree is hovering a bit above ground, always do a left to right check of your render in PSP or Photoshop, scanning slowlying from corner to corner working gradually down the render checking it for postwork fixes. I do it enlarged at 600 to 800%. This was an instruction given to me by the artist/merchant Renapd - she stated moved down your work about a half an inch at a time from corner to corner, never turn out anything that you can fix in your postwork, if it can't be fixed in post work, you should do the fix in Daz and don't render until its right. I love her work!

DLG- - -> Only one distant light? For a scene like this I think I would go with 3, each separated by by about 30 degrees. Start off using varying shades of gray but only have one cast shadows. Unfortunately there is no absolute always works solution to lighting. Everyone does something a bit differant from everyone else. Wide open scenes rarely work with just one light, that I can assure you.

Awesome scene, how about some Blue light and camels with point light

Totally agree with above 1 light is just not going to do it if you have 1 distant light for the sun with shadows points for highlighting set to gray and at a low level setting of strength but as for the positioning well that depends on the scene and props some love the light and others dont so its just test it and see for them I some times make the render bright not too bright mind and darken it in post with layers in PSP But all that in hand a very nice render

DLG;-]) a beautiful render what I always do with my lighting is use a ready made light set and then add a spot light with shadow, move it around the scene and render when you have it placed where you want also use the null to point the spot light at the object you want the light on. match the spot light to the backgound sun light colour. I would place the null where the fae is then move the spot light very high up, bring it to the back and of to the left alot. still a beautiful render you made

DLG - Wonderful image... more lighting from the front might work. Or the side.
