Hi all: I started out as a painter, then switched to digital art after I saw some work in Bryce. Abandoned Bryce more or less when the Poser bug bit. I have always liked more realistic painting. I also have worked as a professional photographer and currently shoot with a Nikon SLR digital camera. What's nice is I could use all my 35 mil lenses with the digital. Happy rendering!! I'm married with two grown daughters and one grandson. Here I am on my new horse, Dylan.

Had to have him? LOL Thats scary Sherrie! :) Fantastic work and yes excellent character too!
Greywolf Starkiller
Nicely done! His left hand at the top of the paddle is not QUITE in the right position. He could be shifting his grip as he brings the paddle forward which could acount for it. Normal pose for that hand would be to twist it, or the arm so that the bent fingers are parallel to the paddle and the hand covers the top of the paddle handle. Not sure if I'm describing it properly as it's a hard type of pose to describe. :) The image is VERY well done though.

When I saw the blonde hair and blue eyes, my first thought was "He's a Beothuk?" With the new movie Pathfinder coming out, there could be something in that as well. Nicely done!

Nice textures, nice boat, nice paddle... hang on, maybe everything is just a little too nice. Although this is a well set up render (except for the left hand as Greywolf mentioned)there is no sense of reality, no dirt or sweat or staines there isn't even any water on the paddle. Everything is too... clean.

This has a real classic look to it like something out of an old movie like some of the others have mentioned.

Greaat scene and posing. I guess my only comments would be perhaps re-adjusting the fingers a bit to fix that poke thru on the paddle, and just getting a hint more color in the sky. What is that seam in the water? the reflections seem to match up but there's a sudden color change. and that being said.... Nice work ;) R

Nice!

A well posed image :) I agree with the comments on the left hand and maybe a bit of tightening on the right. It looks a bit as though the strut (or thwart) behind him is going through his back. If he is kneeling would he be as low as he is (but I don't think that is important)

wonderful image. remind me of the time I read all I could on the mountian men of the old west in 1800 to 1840. he may have been one.

looks great...top.

Really interesting character :) The big one for me was the crossbar of the canoe intersecting his hip. Nice interaction with the paddle on the right hand, although the left has already been mentioned. Hair looks really cool :)
